TPL Agents of change

Every Friday this November, Toronto Reference Library celebrates four people who have made a difference. These *agents of change* - experts in the fields of humanitarian aid, education, the environment and broadcasting -- will speak about what they*ve accomplished, and what still needs doing. The series is part of the anniversary celebrations for the Toronto Reference Library, highlighting its role as a source of original programming and a venue for the exchange of ideas.

On Friday, November 9, 2007, Dr. Samantha Nutt, founder of nonprofit organization War Child Canada, will speak about her experiences providing humanitarian assistance to war-affected children around the world. She will be interviewed by CBC senior correspondent Brian Stewart.

On Friday, November 16, 2007, John Mighton, founder of JUMP Math and author of The End of Ignorance, will talk about the transformative power of education. He will be joined onstage by filmmaker Atom Egoyan.

On Friday, November 23, 2007, television visionary Mark Starowicz, the executive producer of Canada: A People*s History, and the man behind programs including As It Happens, Sunday Morning and The Journal, will talk about the future of broadcasting, and will have a conversation with fellow broadcaster Jian Ghomeshi, host of CBC Radio*s Q.

On Friday, November 30, 2007, Tom Heintzman, president of Bullfrog Power, will discuss his visions for a greener Canada with writer/broadcaster Gill Deacon. Electricity for this event will be provided by Bullfrog Power.

All events will take place at the Toronto Reference Library, 789 Yonge Street (North of Bloor Street) at 6 p.m.
