Finding a hotel in London...

We're heading to London in mid-June [we'll be blogging from there] and we've been having issues figuring out how to get a reasonably priced hotel since the Canadian Dollar-to-UK Pound conversion rate is just not good for Canadians.

A buddy of ours in NYC reminded us about HotelReservations.com[UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Portugal, Switzerland, Austra call 00-800-1276-3549] as not only do they have hotels and motel discounts but also vacation rentals, which is always a great alternative we think. Oh and B&B options too!

ani3.gifSo we tried to check this Hotel Discount site and found a couple of hotels we're considering: Hotel 87, a boutique hotel wtih wireless Internet access [very important feature for business travelers]. We're piqued by the note "bathrooms offer power showers" which conjures interesting images [looking forward to checking that out]. The next hotel we saw was Park Lane Mews. We're considering this because Buckingham Palace, Harrods department store and the luxury shops of Bond Street are just 800 metres away while Trafalgar Square and 10 Downing Street are one-and-a-half miles away. Shopping is always a great excuse for any trip. Granted that this is a business trip, it was important for us to check out various deals to ensure that we get the most of our corporate dollars. Since there will be 15 people going on this trip, the good thing with this Hotel Reservations is their Group discount section. And the minimum is nine (9) rooms instead of the 10 or 12 rooms that our travel agency in Toronto indicated when we asked this afternoon.

Next need is a car. Driving on the other side of the road will be a fun experience so we're renting one car although there's more of us so we can take turns between using the Tube and driving. So with Hotel Reservations Car Rental.

And to sweeten any deal from Hotel Reservations, check out their $100 Rebate Program! Its a tiered program so the more nights you book, the more money you get back. $20 with a 3-Night Booking, $30 with a 5-Night Booking, $50 with a 8-Night Booking, $75 with an 10-Night Booking and you get $100 with a 12-Night Booking. A promotion we've not seen in a long time and looking forward to taking advantage of. That's some cool program, we think.

Alex:

The last time I was in London I got a pretty good deal at the Hazlitts Hotel, located at 6 Frith Street Soho Square. I'm not a Hostel type person and this was a pretty nice hotel for being so reasonably priced.
