Sushi anyone?

Update SomethingTwo Sushi Restaurants. Four blocks apart. One is Sushi Train on 750 Yonge Street (Bloor) and Sushi Garden on 3 Wellesley. They're on the same posting because we ate at both locations on two consecutive lunches. There is no comparison, Sushi Train is by far a better option for the Sushi in a hurry diner while the Sushi Garden is good if you just want to spend $5 for lunch. Sushi Train's conveyor belt presentation known as Kaiten-zushi reminds us of 100 Yen sushi in Tokyo (near HMV). Its a good opportunity to bring in a friend who is new to the world of sushi since the smaller portions will not fray one's bucked facial expressions when discontent with the taste. For a quick lunch, its a great way to seat, pick your choices, and off you go. If you want finer sushi dining, this wouldn't be it. They do have a loyalty program but it so difficult to even get a point that one would end up not wanting to even continue with the program. A $40 meal will garner you 0.98 points! Huh? How about removing the decimals and moving all the points to the nearest hundred? Isnt' that what Shoppers does anyway?

NotWorldClassDon't even let us start on Sushi Garden. They were quick to clean up our table (2 seconds flat from our last bite of our 7 piece $4.99 calamari) but the taste was salty and the avocado roll was bland. And this is a chain (six locations in TO). We've gone to two (Wellesley and Yonge) and unfortunately I'd like to just make my own maki at home, thank you. Service was good because it was quick but quality and taste, I guess you get what you pay for. Its cheap so the food feels rubbery and cheap as well. I'd move on to the next sushi place.
