Toronto Delivers

Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council Did you know that 46% of the GTA's population is foreign born? There have been a number of ads of late in Toronto that struck us as an important part of a growing world class city. These were repeated from last year's initiative but with a stronger resolve to ensure that the voice of the immigrant is heard louder as there are more of us coming to Canada (and Toronto especially) everyday.

The ads would show taxi drivers with PhDs; frostee servers with MBAs; maids with advanced degrees; to name a few. These ads are telling. They refer to a site HireImmigrants.ca {run by the MayTree Foundation} assisting employers with their hiring practices. This project is coordinated by the The Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council
along with CareerBridge, The Mentoring Partnership and the Toronto Community Foundation.

As Toronto eagerly tries to get more well-educated contributing immigrants, programmes like this are important to ensure that its vision towards being a real World Class city comes to fruition. A definite world class initiative, in our book.
